I could see still wanting to participate if I was taking classes and didn't perform (because, seriously. The bay area is rife with dancers, I am dumpy and make a lot of money in my day job. Performing would obviously not be in the cards for me even if I desperately loved BD). Not in performance-oriented conversations, most likely.
