I don't use the word trigger to describe things like that; "trigger" tends, to me, to mean a Bad Thing and it's not a bad thing to see footage of prequake Chch in a movie, or a video, or a documentary about the 1981 Springbok Tour. I don't even think it is a bad thing to cry about it. You just accept that other people don't get it.
I really hate the sound of car alarms, they remind me of it a lot.
