Sounds of silence, so nice.

When I taught at the on-paper school I had to get used to the fact that recess and cleaning time were signaled with a karaoke version of "Part Time Lover" being played on the loud speaker.
City hall has a different ear worm. When we put someone on hold, the phone plays a tin version of The Beatles "Let It Be." I don't mean that the music is played to the person on the phone, I have no clue what they hear, but everyone near the phone is subject to the music. It no doubt makes sure that we don't forget that someone is on hold...but it makes me twitchy.
It should be noted that by "We" I really mean "They"...I don't touch the phones. I don't like speaking Japanese on the phone and I don't think that people calling this department want to speak my crazy-phone-Japanese...and I'd be rubbish taking messages.
