When Mega Sensei says that she has a strange request, she speaks the truth.
In July I may be working with a group of dentists here in the city of Riverdale Japan. They go to the elementary schools twice a year, once to examine teeth and once to present information on oral hygiene. The oral hygiene day used to feature a commercially created video but this year they are making their own. They want it to feature a man and a woman...specifically "local celebrities the children will know."
So, yeah, the mayor and I have agreed to be in a film on oral hygiene.
God knows how much I love educational films, and now I get to be IN one...in an ideal world I'd get to be a girl of questionable morals propagating a social disease but you take what you can get....Mega sensei was a little surprised with my level of enthusiasm.
Today's school included:
Many children showing me caterpillars and larvas after we taught a class on bugs and yelling "look! my baby moth!" "Baby butterfly"
A really pissed-off looking school peacock in full display.
My dramatic readings of The Very Hungry Caterpillar...which I will never post on you tube.
The scary driving of The Milkman's Sister while she was plugging in her handsfree and looking at a text message.
Being taught the phrase: 生みは苦しみ, which I take to mean "life is hard" which I shall now wield like my father would say "Life's not fair."
No breast attempts!

One thing that I didn't even think about when it comes to filming for the Japanese elementary school market is that I'll probably be speaking Japanese. I don't know why this didn't occur to me. I'm sure my fine acting skills and love of oral hygiene will transcend the language barriers.
