When this is finished I will put together a whole entry that shows the process from start to finish.
I just finished the most terrifying part of the bra surgery.

The cutting:

Once you have a box with the little limbs that used to be the ribcage band...you know there is no going back.

I cauterized the wound edge with the stretchy fabric used for the lining and started covering the edge a bit with beads.

This is the shape of the cups with the band as it had been. Shallow ovals lacking love.
Seriously, in the original pictures on Tribe (before Mirabai) I figured the bad fit was due to the center strap system ...(sigh)

If the tension from the rib-band is moved lower on the form the cups become ample, like this!

Next, fabricating the ribcage bands from scratch and parts.

the new cup construction, it will be so much more flattering! I doubted over buying this costume because it's so cute, now I'm glad that I didn't decide to buy it.

Brave woman you!

it looks so much better already. you've got such bedlah surgery skills.

oh, you could open a bedlah hospital, like a doll hospital for our current toys of choice ;)

do you use regular thread for seed beads or something else?

I usually use thick quilter thread, or thread quadroupled up...sometimes bead-specific thread. I am trying out a new "bead crochet" thread now, but am breaking needles.

Awesome. I am awed by your leetitude. I've never dared try to realign cups. Truly, it is an inspiration. The new angle looks fantastic.
