I have now downloaded Nathan's photos from the July 26th shoot and have started playing around with photoshop.

I gotta say, once you have the tiniest clue as to what you are doing, touch up with photoshop is fun! I'm not doing any radical body morphing or anything, no fears that I am going to re-shape my tummy and accidentally remove my navel, just little tweeks to how an accessory hangs to bump up composition or addressing those things about a photo that barely register when someone else views it but seem like HUGE issues to the subject (nearly non-existent crows-feet, lightening under-eye bags, tucking in costumes bits and the slightest hint of muffintops) so that I look like the me that my over-pick self can publish, and I still look like the me that other people know.

I showed you guys this one as soon as I got it. If things go well, in each photoshoot there should be a shot where you can say "Yup, it was worth the hassle for just this one shot!" and in Nathan's set, this is it!.

Just purty

There are better full body shots of me, and I don't think I'd use this for publicity, but this does reflect the goofy grin I get,.

For when creating flyers for shows with multiple dancers and you just need a quick visual...could work. And that fringe is a thing of beauty!

filter fun on Nathan's side.

Some Zar

What we are doing with photoshop this weekend:

I'm SURE I've got some OCD leaning readers who understand why I did this

Necklace centered, now the OCD can focus on the smile or at least relax

Nathan gave this to me in full color and in black and white, first I cleaned up TIIIIINY little things on the b&w.

Hard to see at this size, but I smoothed my lip-line, pushed together the fabric around my zipper to de-emphasize it, removed some hair frizz on my forehead and poked in the smallest bit of muffin-top above my skirt.

In almost every shoot results I've seen of Nathan he's played around with removing all but one color or range of colors on at least one image. I enjoy it, from a arty-geek-play perspective...but think the removae of skin color for me makes me look too harsh. So, on a variation of this theme I used the untouched(by me) color image he'd sent me(below) and the B&W one, and played aorund with layers, color saturation, until I could get something more "hand tinted" looking...which is my visual shout out to Daphnep

Love the flying fringe one. You've got some great material there.

I was SO loving that picture, anyway, with your hair, and the tattoo peaking through, and the emphasis on your curves...and then I scroll down, and WOW.

I also really, really love the second one, which shows your tattoo. There's something about your downward glance that first reads as "coy" but the way you're smiling is actually more happy and self-possessed than flirtatious, it creates a neat double-take, like "oh, she's purty and flirtatious, wait, no, she's just happy and really, really into what she's doing, which is even more sexy than that."

These are just awesome.

Thanks.

I haven't welcomed you formally, but it is nice to have another Kathryn (or however you may spell it) in the house. I think I remember you from when I purchased a costume I came to call "The Red Menace" from Anne Soffee...(red menace's journey is tagged under red menace.)

I am all about the minutia.

And superdainties remember like.

Y'know, wrt muffin top, I find it kind of hard to believe a belly dance skirt, belt, whatever could ever fit securely without producing it, just as a product of where it lies on the body.

Yeah. Better a muffintop than shimmying your skirt to the ground.

It's not something I am surprised at seeing in some shots, nor does it make me freak-out and think there is anything in the muffin area that I need to fix in real life...but if I can push it slightly smoother in photoshop and it still reads like my body...why not.

they are all fabulous as usual!! You are uber-photogenic... and um, totally frakkin hot in those!! :)

p.s. thank you for moving the necklace...

Trust me, no one is naturally ubber-photogenic...except perhaps fellow Afet member Eshe...she probably is...http://eshebellydancer.homestead.com/

The trick is that these photographers are shooting a loooooot of photos, so the not-so amusing ones are filtered out...first by them, then by me.

But, I will own up to being hot...and humid!
