We didn't do the little leaps in class...but we did watch him mock "Oriental" style...which he did not allow to be filmed.

What doesn't come across on You Tube is how much he looks like Peter Sellers when he goofs around.

I was actually thinking peter sellers in the first one...

Especially when he guest starred on the muppet show

Actually the Peter Sellers as "Gypsy" bit bothers me on a very deep level. I winced when I got the first season and saw it. I honestly can't lighten up and watch it ever again.

However, for his first performance Ahmet dressed up in an overly flowery "Turkish Folk" costume and danced stiffly, mocking formalized Turkish dance. The Sellers character he most resembled in posture and stiffness was inspector Clueso (sp?)

It was a pretty WTF moment for me. I sat there thinking "I hope he's not being serious...this isn't the man I studied with for two days" luckily the fact that he had a rip-away shirt and belt and soon ripped away....

shoot, I knew I should've gone with cigarettes and whiskey number...

Off topic -- but my earliest memory of the "Cigarettes and Whiskey" song is my mother singing it while cooking dinner one night...

I realize that's not too surprising. ;p

If too much energy was building up, or he was getting a bit frustrated, he'd start doing that Turkish snapping and crotch hop around the room...and then he'd settle back down.
