Lungs on notice.

In a surprise move, my lungs shut down.
Sunday evening I had a very slight cough and thought....hmmmm.
Monday I was sleepy and left work a little early.
Tuesday I had a little scratchiness in my throat and drank on yuzu in the evening thinking "no fair, just got over horrible ick!!!!"
This morning my lungs shut down rapidly. I went to work, because I had four classes to teach and at the end of the semester there would be no time to reschedule. I had nearly no voice, but the audible weeze of my lungs and inability to fully catch my breath was more worrisome. I usually have to be deep into a head and chest cold for any asthma to kick in, but today seems to be the exception. Usually my inability to breathe is on top of a chest full of crap...not a stand alone phenomena.
I taught four classes...somehow.... ate lunch, and went straight to my ears/nose/throat specialist.
The camera down my nose and into my chest was far more painful than I remembered it being and it set of a spluttering gag, cough, and tear reflex. I was hooked up to some machine to relax my lungs, then tubes up the nose, then given allergy meds and an inhaler. I can breathe but I feel like I've been punched in the chest.
I'm in rather alert right now, but it is safe to say this day should be fired/assualted/violated. Soon I will make and early dinner.

And, oh yeah, I'm allergic to dust,mold,mildew....we'll not talk about the state of Japanese governmental buildings, including public schools.

Date: 2008-12-11 08:47 am (UTC)I mean, I kick ass in high energy one-hour zumba. I break a sweat but I don't get out of breath...and you can't do resraurant sets, Turkish ones no less, without some goodly air capacity.
It's one of those times where living alone sort of sucks.
