Costume Challenge

I've recently posted on Bhuz askign for people's most horrible "airport special" crap they have, or were given, and can't bring themselves to throw away but can't even imaging trying to sell...and have offered to take them (and pay only shipping) to see if I can work some reconstruction magic.

This one is tempting me...only because it has poppies. I think the ribcage strap would chaffe my underarms. The dancer/owner of this one was given it as a present and doesn't have the heart to throw it away.

Am I batshit insane? If it were gold colored I would probably have already paid for shipping.

WHAT IF you cut down or replaced the side straps and *added more poppies*? So it was more "pink-red poppies with white/silver between"?

It would be a monster job but you like beading right?

I was thinking of cutting down the side straps and adding some some 3-d beaded leafs and petals to take the poppy motif around it...the cups looks pretty solid for an airport special.

I'm still hoping someone flings a basic Turkish set at me as well.

The way that sequinning is done will make it not too hard to cut down the top edge. And the cups do look decent and the strap between them is in the right place.

I think you can wave your magic wand over this one, but it's gonna be a lot o' work! The 3-D poppies will be fabulous but very time consuming. You'll need a lot to disguise the fugly, hee hee. I know you can do it, though. : )
