Fabulous!

You know, they're really nice, but I still get a slight jarring feeling when I see you in the circle skirt-fringed bedleh outfits. It's what people were wearing when I started - in fact our first "regulation" costumes were that exact style, though usually not as ornate because we made our own - and even then they were a teensy bit old fashioned. I'm not used to seeing contemporary international dancers dressed that way!

It's prescient. My old costumes are going to be back in style before I ever get a chance to get a "new" style one!!!!!

Hehehehe. I'm sure the make-up isn't helping.

Should have seen me at the Yildiz party. This bedlah, blue silk skirt with the gold & blue skirt topper. Sema loved the costume.

Remember, circle skirts are still large part of Turkish bellydance costuming...and my usual audience is Japanese restaurant goers and some Turks (and, after that, dancers who know a few things about costumes)

I'll break out my basic Sahar or the gold Eman or the crazy B&W Hannan next week when I dance at the local Egyptian place.

Okay so I know that being *sigh* a guy I'm supposed to go for the "Journey To Cleave-Land" shot, but fuck that noise. That third pick where you look like you're underwater is so sublimely gorgeous and perfect I want to cry. Holy crap. I think the perfect final touch is your smile, but in particular it's the color of your smile.

Marvelous, marvelous work by both you and the photographer. If there is any chance at all I could get a print of this, I will pay what it takes, and could possibly get it from you when you're in Madison over the holidays?

Backbend shots are downright silly. Period.

I sent Martin an email asking about print options and costs. I can't wait to see other images.

They usually are, but this one is not :))) Your smile and the silk make it looks so "organic" as if backbends can be done by any dancer. Maybe it's just me, i can't do backbends, not yet *sigh*

Thanks. Remember, the photographers are slightly above me which makes the bend looker deeper and less labored.

Indeed. Because for those who know how to use film well, the results are fucking incredible, as seen here!

for some reason I am entranced with the lower two photos. Part of it is the veil. But there is also some ethereal quality behind them.

The top photo also grabs me for reasons I cannot fathom.

But yes there are reasons for film!

wow, these are mazing! Makes me wonder what the difference is between the digital and these, maybe because they have a kind of grainy no photoshopping look to them.

Greater level of detail on these due to the size of the negative (bigger than the 35mm) VS the average size image the digital photographer is shooting.

You'll be able to blow this up to a point and still miantain a resonably quality (with some grain, of course) beyond where av average digital image would become distractingly pixilated.

The first shot the negative probably had to be pushed a bit because it looks like the lighting may have been too much or too little due to the special nature of the shot..which is why you loose information in areas and part of my stomache is pure white.

In the rest of the shots compare the amount of specific detail in my skin in comparison to how milky I am in the digitals...that's where you can see the difference, I think. You can see the detail in the veil as well if you compare non-windmachine shots.
