The search for a my-skin-friendly foundation to dance in begins all over again.

My face is a burning rash. I have a rash, red patches, and I feel like I am on fire.

To the dermatologist. I am pretty sure he is wrong about this just being seasonal allergies...past entries show it's often triggered by too many evenings a week in performance makeup.

I really hate foundation hunting.

Also, back to new face-sunscreen. I used some Aveeno for the face last week and it BURNED>

You probably have used it before, but Clinique is pretty good for sensitive skin.

I found a nearby Clinique counter.

Good, hope it works :). I don't use face makeup (just eyes and lips) but I love their stuff, and their All About Eyes cream/serum actually makes my eyes less puffy. My mom has sensitive skin and all she uses is Clinique.

yeah, If I'm not performing I'm usually 100% make-up less...when I dress up a bit I still don't use much foundation, which makes it all the more annoying to hunt.

Makes sense, if I was in your position I'd go all the way too since it's part of the act. I like to use makeup because I like it, not to cover up my flaws...I prefer to attempt to use face washes/exfoliators/creams to make my skin nice on it's own. Also I hate the feeling of tons of makeup and the time it takes to take it off.

One primer I tried BURNED...but many Bhuzzers recommend Monistat Antichaffing gel and some is on it's way to me.

Sometimes I've found that things I can tolerate fine under non-sweaty conditions become intolerable when mixed with sweat.

I feel your foundation hunting pain, it is wretched. For performing I've been using Makeup Forever's Face and Body Lotion, with good results. It's too thick and heavy for every day use but it absolutely stays put through the most drenching sweat. I think it may even form a barrier between my skin and the sweat, so that the sweat does not irritate me as much.

I've located a store for Makeup Forever in Shinjuku.

Agree on the Clinique. Does what it says on the tin. What do you use to take off your make-up?

for full removal I smooth on a little on medical-grade olive-oil (available at drug stores here) and wipe away with cotton pads and then use a light oil-based facewash.

Have you tried one of the mineral foundations without that bismuth stuff no one likes? You probably already have but just thought I'd mention.

See, the fun of all of this is Japanese labels.

I've used Everyday Minerals in the past and liked them. You could order from the internet, they have free sample-size kits (cost of postage only) so you can find the right shade, they ship internationally, and they take paypal.

Here's a link to the sample-size ordering page for foundations.

http://www.everydayminerals.com/store/try-me-free/base.html?mode=list

You can order one sample-size kit free per order, the discount will show up when you checkout. If that's the only thing in your cart, then you'll just pay shipping ($5 for international?). Or you could order several sample kits and the first one will be free and the rest will be $5 each plus shipping.

Each sample kit has 4 separate little containers, so you can try 4 different foundation shades. Although one of the things I like most about the mineral/powdered foundations is that you can custom mix your own color very easily - so in the summer I can add a bit more of a darker shade, and vice-versa in winter.

If you have super-fair skin I'd try the 'ivory' color range, otherwise 'fair' would probably work.

The new website design is atrocious, but I found the customer service and quality to be excellent. Might be worth a shot for you!

Although be warned, mineral make-up is a whole different ball of wax. It takes practice, and tools, and application techniques. You'll probably need to study up on the internets.

I'll be interested in hearing what you come up with; a recent experiment with (gentle!) daily exfoliation seems to have left me with rosacea, about which I am Not Pleased.

I had to stop using the Aveeno moisturizer with spf when I got pregnant and my skin got sensitive. Switching to Neutrogena worked for me.
