Balcony thoughts.

I guess it makes sense to actually plan gardens. I've only been at this for a few years. I know that making this balcony work will mean getting rid of a few planters...because in previous years I've bought and planted willy-nilly.
First I started moving around the planters, and cinder blocks, I already have.

Tomatos, cucs, and eggplants always start out happy on my balcony and then sort of languish. My real producers have been pepper plants. I think this area will be for a few varieties of hot and bell peppers and basil. Those containers will share space with companion plants in the form of chives, garlic, and marigolds...and maybe some oregano.
I have some chives in the kitchen, and some oregano awaiting a bigger planter. I've ordered some new types of basil and started the seeds I have left over... Goodness knows I always have some garlic that is trying to sprout. I'll get the peppers from seedlings.

A trip to the 100 yen store should give me the few more hanging baskets and S hooks I need here. I took a box-cutter to the plastic-grass-flooring I had from last season to make the cinderblock extensions work.
The Elephant is not pictured here because I threw him in the shower for a spring cleaning.

This will get decluttered, get some raised outdoor flooring, and be home to where my fold-out table and chair go. This is where I will also do experiments in what sort of vertical growing I can do.
