The First Tears

Today was the "closing ceremony" before spring break, but the "goodbye
teacher" ceremony will be next week Monday. That's the tear-jerking
one. However, the 5th graders asked me to stay in the gym after the
ceremony. I suspected it would be a goodbye, but no one warned me
about singing. They then sang the dirge-like Arigato-Sayonara (Thank
you, goodbye) song at me, which made my left eye spring a leak. They
then presented me with three packs (one for each homeroom) of goodbye
letters.
Bastards made me cry. Next Monday I'll be able to swim out of the gym
on my own tears.
No fair, these packets include drawings, many of the students included
"furigana" in case I couldn't read the simple kanji they wrote, and a
few students busted out the English...including one who told me that
he is "kureizi"
