The elementary schools is having an optional 4-day long summer-activity thing for kids.
There's a few hundred kids participating, 300 maybe. Each day the kids do one of four English activities, in one of 6 time slots. My prep for this was to prepare lesson plans for myself and 3 ALTs. Each of us is teaching our own lesson plan, 6 times a day, for 4 days. I just finished day 3. One is doing color mixing and shapes through making "byun byun goma" (discs with two holes punched in them and string that you spin and spin until the colors mix), one is doing a game similar to pin the tail on the donkey (Mr.Bump) with blindfolded kids and direction commands, and one is doing "My profile quiz" where teams try to guess what the teacher likes and dislikes (multiple choice) and them create their own profile sheets....and me...I am doing an old favorite, "India: Yoga and Kabaddi".
I decided this months ago, when I was stuck in city hall. Yoga warm-ups I can do 6 times a day, no problem. Heck, the joy of being more flexible than almost all but the most ballet/gymnastics-bound tiny Asian children...priceless. But. Kabaddi. Kabaddikabaddikabaddi....The amount of physical exertion it takes to explain Kabaddi to kids who barely understand English...oy vey. The kids love it, it feels great when they get it, and everyone has a good time despite the bruises, scratches, and bumps they leave with. Even the simplest version of kabaddi can get pretty brutal.
Today I asked a kid to please explain to his mom that the blood on his shirt was a nosebleed that started BEFORE we played. I've gotten very good at the gesture for "don't grab a kid by the ankle, lest they fall on their face, their nose shatters, and blood goes everywhere...k?"
This is why I haven't updated. I am exhausted after each day. Good exhausted...but exhausted. Haven't had energy for dance practice, except costume work and jazz class.
My room is a mess. It is Thursday evening and I am prepping for the restaurant tomorrow (after I get back from work) at the photoshoot Saturday afternoon. Veils and bling EVERYWHERE.
I think the shoot will probably be Fire-Junkman-Poppies-and . I thought I would pick Emeralds over Poppies...because I have the bling for Emeralds but not for Poppies...but I put the Poppies on again and it just looks so minimal and HAWT..even without accessories. So, fixer-uper, purchased and homemade! Red-Crazy-Darkest Green.
I will probably use my "can't sleep, still psyched" after-restaurant energy for....ironing veils. wheeeeeee.
